Cometa 220 for the Learner.
The Cometa 220 is the smallest of the Cometa range handled by Gunroom. It is basically a learner?s gun being well suited to a youngster in their early teens or someone with a slight build. While it is fitted with open sights, a small scope will compliment the air rifle quite nicely.
The Cometa 220 is still quite a reasonable air rifle that is capable of dispatching small vermin, plinking and for use in basic target practice. The finish on these Spanish guns is good but not quite up to the Weihrauch standard but then you are not paying Weihrauch money. ?I would catalogue the Cometa spring air rifle range as being more ?industrial? than ?cosmetic?, with a very simple and practical action and build while being good value for money. The Cometa 220 uses .177 calibre pellets that are the cheapest and most widely available of all air rifle pellets on the market.
Surprisingly, the Cometa air rifles perform straight out of the box unlike some air rifles that need some adjustment or modification to make them shoot adequately. If you are looking at the Cometa 220, expect to find the trigger quite heavy and not what one would expect with a sporting air rifle. This heavy trigger action on the Cometa 220 is probably by design rather than due to economies of scale, as it is a learner?s air rifle and built to a price at the end of the day.
