The Brocock Commander HR HiLite PCP air rifle.
The Brocock Commander HR HiLite with the lightweight carbon wrapped bottle for optimum weight saving. This is basically the same PCP air rifle as the Brocock Commander HR with the 500cc aluminium air cylinder, with the differences being it is lighter but less durable (without a bottle protector). The carbon wrapped bottles are very popular on PCPs these days due to their light weight and ability to carry higher pressures, but these benefits come at a cost.
The 2 significant issues are that carbon wrapped bottles need a cover if you are to go hunting with a Brocock Commander HR (HiLite) to protect the vulnerable carbon laminate. The other issue is the added cost of carbon wrapped bottles that may affect your budget as they are somewhat dearer.
The move by Brocock into the tactical field of air rifles is paying off with these great looking PCPs that perform as well as they look, if not better. The Commander HR HiLite comes with the Huma Regulator as fitted to all Commanders and Bantam Snipers. This regulator by Huma flattens out the parabolic bow curve that we’ve grown used to over the past years, so now expect smaller standard deviations than before. This all translates into better accuracy and better shot count.
The standard fitment of Picatinny rails sets the Commander apart from other Brococks and together with the optional side Picatinny rails for additional accessories as can be seen on the Commander below.
Inside the Brocock Commander HR.
The Brocock Commander HR runs with the very efficient Sling-shot Hammer system together with the Huma Regulator. The 25 calibre Commander still uses the solid hammer system commonly used in most PCPs today. It should be noted that the .22 cal achieves around 30Fpe while the .25 cal comes in around 40 – 46 Fpe. You need to note here that the higher Fpe comes at a price of lower shot count.
As with all modern Brococks, they are fitted with a power reduction knob as seen on the right hand side of the image above. While this knob does reduce the power, it only does so by restricting the speed of the air allowed through the valve body, so you do NOT save any air on low power. The top gauge is the Huma regulator pressure and the lower gauge if the residual pressure in the air cylinder.
Like the Brocock Commander HR 500, the Commander HiLite model is also available in Cerakote options such as Tan and Black. The only differences between these two models is the change of air cylinder from aluminium to carbon wrapped.
The Commander HiLite Summary.
The Brocock range of PCPs today share a commonality of parts necessary to achieve economies of scale for competitive pricing in the evolving and aggressive marketing world of the air rifle. The huma regulator is now found in all but the basic Brocock Compatto when in 2017 it was an after-market option. The same can be said for the Lothar Walther barrels that were after-market options on many air rifles and now they too are a standard fitment on these high end Brocock Commander HR PCPs.

The Brocock Commander HR HiLite is a great PCP that can be tuned for accuracy with the externally adjustable Huma regulator, making this air rifle a ‘must have’ for those of you looking for reliability, accuracy and longevity in a PCP.
