Air Arms Galahad Introduction
The Air Arms Galahad is a true Bullpup in every sense of the word with the centre of gravity close to the shoulder, resulting in better stability when shooting. The cocking lever is forward mounted and can be moved to the left or right, making it a truly ambidextrous PCP air rifle. This allows you to cock the air rifle without having to move it out of position that is a common draw-back on many other bullpup air rifles.
The Galahad comes in two calibres, .22 and .25 calibres. The ‘HR’ in Galahad HR has the ‘H’ standing for high power (FAC) and the ‘R’ for Regulated. With the Galahad being a Regulated air rifle, you can be assured to a flat bow curve and not the severe curve associated with the parabolic curve of some unregulated PCP air rifles. This also results in a better shot count per fill from the 249cc air chamber.
The Galahad magazine is a standard 10 shot in both .22 and .25 calibres, with the rifle coming with 2 magazines as standard.
The Galahad Action.
The Galahad action has been taken from the Air Arms S410/S510 range so you know immediately that it is a proven action that will give longevity in the air rifle. There are two actions available, the Carbine or the Rifle. Gunroom is only bringing in the Rifle version at present due to uncertainty over the legality of the carbine version. As the Galahad is a Bullpup in the true meaning of the word, it is NOT legal in West Australia for reasons that evade me…
All said and done, the Galahad is a compact PCP air rifle that will endear itself to hunters and vermin controllers that have to work on sheds and around machinery, due in part to its compactness. Personally, I have found the bullpup design a very different action to that of the conventional air rifle, with the centre of gravity being closer to the shoulder, I find it easier to hold on target. Still, it does take some getting used to if you have never fired a bullpup.
The Galahad air rifle barrels are from Lothar Walther so you are assured of a high quality barrel in tune with the Air Arms action. It just doesn’t get much better than that.
The finish of the Galahad is the same high quality that we have come to recognise in all Air Arms air rifles, and that is without equal, and I say that without qualms. These Galahad bullpup is a beautifully finished air rifle that has resulted in an almost ‘cult-like’ following, a fact that Air Arms owners are known for.
The power levels in the Galahad are 32 Fpe in .22 cal and 36 Fpe in 25 calibre. You can expect around 45 shots on high power setting in .22 and over 100 shots in low power through the variable power settings. I will be doing an extensive article on the Galahad air rifle when time allows it, so watch this space.
The Galahad trigger is crisp with a 2 stage that we have got used to with Air Arms and safety is easy to use and near at hand. The adjustable trigger here in Australia is supposed to be over a kilogram unless used specifically for target work. That being the case, buyers need to let me know what they intend to use the Galahad for, as a fine trigger results in better shot placement.
We are bringing in both the Walnut and Black Galahad models, in .22 and .25 calibres. These air rifles will be packaged with a Mark IV High Pressure Compressor and Mark IV Scope for those of you into “air rifle package deals” to save money.
Galahad Air Rifle Warranty
Each Galahad air rifle comes with a 3 year warranty when purchased from Gunroom. This applies to all PCP air rifles that we are agents for, with the caveat that the airgun must have originated from Gunroom. If you have purchased an air rifle from another dealer who in turn has purchased it from Gunroom, the 3 year warranty applies. If it is purchased on the “grey” market or another importer, then you are on your own as we do not have the time to work on air rifles purchased from others.
In summarising, the Galahad air rifle will maintain the tradition of quality that Air Arms are known for, that and the back-up we will give you at Gunroom, will do justice to your investment should you buy one.
