WEBSITE DOWNTIME.

Apologies to all for the downtime with the website (16/12/2019 – 17/12/2019). This site has gone over its bandwidth and crashed. It was then put on a dedicated 1TB server and overloaded that the same day. Now it is on yet another larger server and hopefully will handle the bandwidth here on.

PLEASE READ THIS.

We have moved the website yet again, this time to a server in Sydney and presently we are re-formatting the site, so expect to see things moving around a bit. I am tidying up each blog and article to assist in SEO and website loading times. You will shortly see several new Headers and more products and videos going up. Please ignore the dummy articles that have been loaded temporarily.

NOTICE.

I am setting up a new business model where we will be dealing with Weihrauch, Kral, Air Arms, Umarex and 2 other air rifle franchises. My experiment with Rob Marx as a partner has not gone well and so I am looking for a person or persons looking at getting into the air rifle business. This would consist of a 6 month trial period with a nominal agreed sum and if things are going well, then a process of gradually buying me out over the next 2-3 years can begin. After 6 months, if there are any negative issues, the parties can then separate using a formula to be agreed upon.

If you are interested and have something to offer in the way of air rifles, be it sales, service of air rifles or integral experience in the gun trade and want a business of your own, call me for a confidential chat on 0421 733 818. Thank you, Ian McIntosh.

Air Rifles and Pre-delivery.

Gunroom tests ALL air rifles sold prior to shipping or collection by the customer, this insures that when you actually take possession of your air rifle, it will perform well and within manufacturers specifications. You will also be advised of the best performing pellet for your airgun at the time of collection.

Air Rifles and Warranty Issues.

Should you buy your air rifle here, be it a springer or a PCP air rifle, we will endeavour to look after your investment. We do all the warranty work in house and even do the warranty work on Weihrauch air rifles Australia wide. With the exception of Weihrauch, if you did not buy your air rifle from Gunroom and if the gun in question did not originate from us, then we cannot assist you with service work. Basically guys, we are too busy and our focus is on our own customers and not the customers of other dealers.

We have our own range of Scopes that will shortly be available online. We have worked closely with the manufacturer so as to complete and effective range of high quality scopes, many of which are using ED lenses. This close working relationship with the manufacturer has enabled us to offer you a Lifetime Warranty to the original purchaser and at a price that is more than competitive. These scopes are under the brand of Mark IV that includes the scopes and HP compressors. We also have  our own scope rings in 25 and 30 mm in high, medium and low settings, plus springer-certified scopes and shock absorbed 1 piece mounts, all under Mark IV.

Air Rifles now in Package Deals.

I need to bring this up guys, and that is you will save time and money if you buy your rifle here in a package deal. For one, you will understand that all the components will work together well and be tested together so they complement each other. Our PCP air rifle compressors are now bulk purchased in 100 unit lots and this has resulted in a massive saving that we are passing onto you, the customer.

Mark IV Right Side facing with large air filter as standard

Our purchasing hasn’t stopped at scopes and HP Compressors, but has moved on to include 2 tonnes of JSB pellets plus the whole range of H&N, many Air Arms, Benjamin, Daystate and some other smaller brands too. These have been purchased through Pellet Warehouse, a division of Gunroom Pty Ltd, that is purchasing in bulk to allow us to discount to you the customer and to other dealers.

Kral PCP and Spring air rifles will be packaged out of our company with prices starting at $1500 that includes the PCP, Scope, Mounts, HP Compressor, large air filter, fittings, cleaning kit and gun bag. I do not think that anyone in Australia can match that price.

Kral Puncher Kral Puncher Knight SyntheticKral Puncher Kral Puncher Knight Synthetic

Following the Kral PCP and Springer air rifle discount packages, we will include package deals on other PCP air rifles that are in stock.

Air Arms will also be available in a package deal such as the Air Arms FTP500 target air rifle:

Air Arms HFT 500 Target Air Rifle

Air Arms HFT 500 PCP

To start with we are offering the Brocock Compatto MKII PCP air rifle on special as per the Slider at the top of this page.

Air Rifles and Discounts explained.

When you buy an air rifle at Gunroom, you automatically get a 6% discount on everything you buy for the next 3 years if you buy a springer, and if you buy a PCP air rifle, you get a 6% discount for 6 years from the date of purchase.

What this DOES include:

Scopes, scope rings, cleaning kits, gun bags pellets and labour will all attract a 6% discount.

What it does NOT cover:

A new air rifle, freight and shipping costs, special orders in from overseas and package deals.

That my friends is the short story, and hopefully I can effectively service your air rifles and accessory requirements and provide you with a website that will support our air rifle sport into the future.

Benjamin Armada PCP 03

Benjamin Armada is this Monthly Air Rifle Special

This months special is the Benjamin Armada that comes in .22 and .25 calibres and they are now on Special for the rest of February, 2020 or if sold before-hand. The Armadas are now selling for $1525 for the .22 cal and $1635 for the .25 cal. These PCP air rifles can be purchased in a package deal including a High Pressure Compressor and Scope for more savings!

Benjamin Armada PCP facing forward

Benjamin Armada

This PCP Air Rifle brings you the same accuracy and power as the better known Benjamin Marauder as they share most of the components. For those of you who like the tactical appearance of your rifles, this one will fit the bill. While appearing bulky, this PCP air rifle only weighs in at 3.570 kilos, add to that a Scope and bi-pod for lightweight combination.

The Benjamin Armada Package Deal.

Should you get a package deal we can offer you a MkIV 3-18×50 second focal plane scope, MkIV mounts and MkIV Compressor for $2442 for the .22 cal and $2552 for the 25 cal. So we are on the same page here, the package price is complete, the PCP of your choice tested and ready to shoot with the recommended pellet (derived from the test firing results) and compressor pre-tested with leads, filter elements and Oring kit.

Those of you who live in NSW I have the feeling that adjustable butt plates are non-compliant. If that is so, just let us know so I can make the necessary adjustment to legalise it. You will be able to remove the pocking pin and reset it to suit if necessary.

Latest Model PCPs

Our Benjamin Armada PCPs are the latest models (2020) and come with retro fitted carbon shrouds – the Border Force took it upon themselves to confiscate the aluminium shrouds because they had a screw threaded cap! The reason: “it is an air dam, or incomplete silencer”. That statement is crap and so vague you can use it to qualify ANY seizure with air rifles, as we have found out to our dismay and cost. If that was the case, why they didn’t take the offending screw cap is beyond me. It all depends on who inspects the shipment. If you are lucky enough to get the Perth Border Force guys then you are in luck as they have common sense, a mental condition that is missing with certain parties in Brisbane.

Benjamin Armada PCP .25 cal

Benjamin Armada PCP Air Rifle in .25 Cal

This Benjamin Armada works well with our MkIV 3-18×50 scope though anyone wanting a larger scope for the MKIV range, call me and we can discuss it. This PCP air rifle is the culmination of improvements made to the Benjamin Marauder so you can be assured that the air rifle will meet with your expectations.

The Benjamin Armada for Vermin Exterminators.

The Benjamin Armada is not to the liking of everyone with its distinctly tactical appearance, and if that is you, consider the following. The outer framework protects the barrel and cylinder making this PCP air rifle very suitable for the professional vermin shooter, it will take the knocks without compromising the accuracy of the gun.

Daystate Red Wolf - Midnight Air Rifle

Daystate-Red-Wolf/

The Red Wolf Transition.

Red Wolf, is it just another Daystate model? If you have handled a Red Wolf or shot one, then the answer is a DEFINITE NO! The finish of both the laminate and Walnut Red Wolf air rifles is first class, like what we have come to expect from Daystate, the ergonomics are great, action is smooth as silk and the accuracy is better than the shooter in my opinion.

When the Special Edition Serie Rosso was unveiled last year, we saw the Red Wolf in a red/black laminate, with it being 70% red and 30% black. I did not expect Daystate to add a Red Wolf to their line-up as this did not happen with the blue laminated Saxon Special Edition that preceded it. When they announced that the Red Wolf will be added to the line-up, we could see the attraction in the marketplace immediately.

The production Red Wolf is presently available in 70% black and 30% red, being the reverse colours of the Special Edition Serie Rosso. It is also available in Walnut for those of you hard core air rifle owners steeped in tradition. There is also going to be an addition to the Red Wolf line-up that I cover at the end of this article, so hang about.

In October, the Extreme Benchrest Championship 2018 was held at Mesa, Arizona where 160 air-gunners from across the globe attended. There is a link at the end of this article that will take you to the results page and a full competition article. But to get straight to the point guys, here are the various results that were achieved and there is NO denying that the Daystate Red Wolf is a giant slayer.

Summarising the Red Wolf.

We have sold some .22, .25 and .303 calibres of the Red Wolf production model. During testing several things jump out at you.

Firstly, is the high shot count with the .22 cal Red Wolf that still retains its velocity to the very end of available air. Accuracy is assured with this calibre for target work. The .25 is not quite as air reserved as the .22 but for that inconvenience, you get a powerful PCP air rifle that is at home hunting and doing target work.

Lastly is the .303 calibre Red Wolf that packs a real punch. I am currently sourcing additional pellets for this beast so we can get the best out of it. This PCP will suit the hunter down to the ground with a range of 100 metres the .303 is deadly.

We have an order of 100 High Pressure Compressors coming from China together with a large order of Mark IV Scopes (we have the exclusive marketing for this brand) and 20 more PCPs from Daystate. These include the Red Wolf in .22 & .25, Red Wolf Midnight in .22 & .25, Red Wolf Safari in .22 and Wolverine Forester in .22 and .25. I tell you this now as we will be doing package deals on the Red Wolf and other PCPs that include a Compressor, Scope (MTC or Mark IV), Gun Bag/case, Cleaning kit, Extended Warranty and Service Plan.

In a couple of weeks, I shall be posting the chronograph results of each of these 3 calibres for those of you who are still sitting on the fence. All in all, the Red Wolf is the most exciting air rifle I have shot while trading as Gunroom since 2004.

Daystate Red Wolf PCP Air Rifle Angled

Air Rifles in stock at Gunroom for the year of 2019

Air Rifles for 2019.

Air Rifles and scope purchasing this last year has been a nightmare, both for the customers that ordered and us at Gunroom. Our UK order of air rifles took 7 months and USA order; though still not here after 8 months, is due to leave the wholesaler by December 30. They didn’t say which year so maybe they mean 2018.

Air Rifles Freighted from the USA has gone up from $120/gun to about $480/gun. This has resulted in us using DB Schenker who have come in and slashed the prices from both the USA and UK to Australia rates. You will see these price reductions when we upload the new pricing of air rifles in January – ignore earlier prices that are on the website at the time of writing this (December 21, 2018).

We currently have a shipment of Daystate and Brocock air rifles in Customs right now. These air rifles include the Daystate Huntsman, Renegade, Red Wolf, TSAR, and Wolverine plus the complete range of Brococks including the Snipers and Commanders. This stock order has only taken 2 months and a bit, which is good by historical standards.

Daystate’s Special 40th Edition; the Genus PCP Air Rifles.

We have 2 of the Daystate Genus PCP airguns allotted to us with a possible additional 2 units should we get orders for them. If you are interested in getting one of these numbered 40th Edition PCPs, please contact either Rob or me by email.

Daystate Genus 40th Anniversary Edition Air Rifle

Daystate Genus 40th Anniversary Edition

These PCP air rifles come complete with Gold trim, shroud and silencer. However, any that we sell here will be modified so that the shroud is only cosmetic with a blank silencer – it will look identical but will provide no noise reduction. Sorry about that guys…

Daystate Genus 40th Anniversary PCP

Current Air Rifles in our Stock Order.

The following air rifles are currently in Customs (22nd December 2018) and are the line up we wish to stay with for a while at least.

Daystate Huntsman.

The new Daystate Huntsman is in the stock order in both .22 and .25 calibres. These PCP air rifles are by far the most popular Daystate available presently, partly popular due to their price that allows them to compete with Weihrauch’s HW100 and Brocock’s Sniper and Commander, but also due to its accuracy and reliability.

Daystate Regal HR PCP Air Rifle

Daystate Regal HR PCP

Daystate Red Wolf PCP Air Rifles.

Alongside the Huntsman air rifles, we also have the now famous and sought after Red Wolf PCP air rifles after their outstanding debut in the USA. While this is a rather expensive Daystate PCP air rifle, it does NOT disappoint in looks and performance. Having sold our first Red Wolf to Darren Burgess, the interest it aroused while it was here was unbelievable.

I am part way through an article on Red Wolf air rifles and should have it published by mid-January. It is a multi-part article with a heap of images that should keep you interested. With great accuracy and a shot count of 270, this PCP air rifle will take some beating. We now have the Red Wolf in Black (70%) and Red (30%) laminate and also in the Walnut for the conservative buyer. Calibres coming into stock are the .22, .25 and .303 cal.

Daystate Wolverine (Laminated)

We have both the Wolverine R air rifles in High Power format and standard FAC, together with the laminated versions of the Wolverine R and Wolverine P in both .25 and .303 calibres.

Daystate WolverineR Grey Laminate PCP Air Rifle

Daystate WolverineR Grey Laminate

Daystate TSAR (12 Fpe) Target Air Rifles.

No Daystate line-up is complete without the Daystate TSAR, with each gun named after a Russian Emperor. This is only available in .177 and 12 Fpe, though I think I can probably re-rate it to 18 Fpe if someone wants to go that way.

Daystate TSAR PCP Target Air Rifle

Daystate TSAR PCP Target Air Rifle

The gun has obviously been designed, if not built, by Ataman air rifles out of Russia. The similarities between the Daystate TSAR and the Ataman M2S Match can be seen here.

Ataman M2S Match Laminated Air Rifle

Ataman M2S Match Laminated

Daystate Renegade Hunting Air Rifles.

Last on the list from Daystate is the Renegade HP HR in .25 cal. HP stands for High Power obviously with HR refers to the PCP having a Huma Regulator.

Daystate RenegadeR HP PCP Air Rifle

Daystate RenegadeR HP PCP

As can be seen, the Daystate Renegade PCP air rifles also come in a dark green synthetic. Presently at the time of writing this, I am not sure whether the stock order has a green or black synthetic. I do have a Pulsar stock in a green laminate that should fit this gun if a customer so wishes to swap the stocks. The calibre of this air rifle in .25 cal and power is stated as 60 Fpe.

Daystate Pellets.

We are also carrying a range of Daystate pellets in .177, .22, .25 and .303 calibres. Due to the high cost of air freighting these pellets, we will limit the number per order to 5 tins.

Daystate Air Rifle Pellets

Daystate Air Rifle Pellets

Brocock PCP Air Rifles.

Currently in Customs are the following Brocock PCP air rifles, that will mean we have the whole range in stock:

Brocock Compatto MKII and Compatto Sniper PCP air rifles.

These 2 Brocock Compatto PCP air rifles are definitely the best volume sellers we have. Why? Simply put, they are short, slim, well balanced, reliable and accurate, on top of that they are also cheap in the big picture. There is a Brocock Compatto Review on this site.

Brocock Compatto MkII Air Rifle

Brocock Compatto MkII

Brocock Bantam Sniper PCP Air Rifles.

This model of the Bantam Sniper is producing great shot counts coupled with accuracy as it is basically a Compatto with a large air tank, different stock, and Huma Regulator. It comes with a redesigned synthetic stock that handles very well indeed.

Bantam Sniper MKII PCP Air Rifle Left Facing

Bantam Sniper MKII Left Facing

Brocock Commander.

The Commander is the all-new model from Brocock that comes with a tactical appearance that will appeal to the cowboys out there. The action is the same as the Bantam Sniper, just in a different stock with a Cerakote option.

All Brococks are available in .177, .22 and .25 calibres and come with Huma Regulators where stipulated. However, we only have the .177 cal in the Compatto presently due to limited demand for this calibre.

Brocock Commander PCP air rifle

Brocock Commander PCP Air Rifles are available in Tan.MTC Scopes for air rifles.

MTC Scopes for air rifles.

At the time of writing this, we have the complete range in stock with plenty of the Viper Pro MTC Scopes in 5-30×50. To give you a better understanding of stock levels with MTC, if you want a large stock order for November, you have to place the order by February.

MTC Viper Pro 10 x 44 suiting a PCP air rifle

MTC Viper Pro 10 x 44

Air Rifles: Summary.

We currently stock PCP air rifles by Brocock, Daystate, Cometa and Weihrauch, with AirForce, Marauders and Dragon Claw .50 cal on the way (after 8 months…) here with DB Schenker, so you can be sure they get here this time.

I am off to the Las Vegas Shot Show on the 19th of January this year. Admission is restricted to the Gun Trade only, so hopefully, I can come away with some additional agencies and better pricing.

Gun shops wishing to sell our range of air rifles can do so via drop-shipping. We take over the sale and supply the customers (via the gunshop) and commission the dealer. The dealer has no issues with spares, service or warranty, as we warrant and test all our air rifles sold here.

We will carry a range of AirForce, Benjamin, Kral and Sam Yang (Eun Jin aka Seneca) air rifles over the next year. Now that there are 3 of us working here, we may just be able to stay ahead of the curve with air rifles, sales and servicing.

New Air Rifle Buying Guide Online.

Purchasing a new Air Rifle online.

An Air Rifle is an A-Class weapon in Australia and what model you can buy varies from State to State, so be warned.

Do your research online to gauge whether the new air rifle you have in mind is suitable for the tasks ahead, this applies especially to what calibre you select. Then I seriously suggest you choose a dealer that KNOWS air rifles and is not just an agent that sells them. Get this part wrong and should you require a warranty, you will find yourself out of pocket at worst or inconvenienced big-time at best.

This will negatively impact on your assessment of the rifle; a fact that is probably not warranted. Furthermore, without the experience and passion for the ever evolving new air rifles, the dealer is unlikely to be able to offer advice about your intended air-gun any further than the price – that’s a bit hard I know, but from what I hear it is pretty accurate.

Selecting your Air Rifle.

In a nutshell, you have to choose between a spring powered new air rifle or a new PCP air rifle. You then must select whether you want to be competitive or hunt with it, this again narrows down the field that you must choose from. Lastly, the budget, yup, how much do you intend to spend will ultimately play a significant role in your choice of air rifle.

Here’s a Tip: Don’t buy cheap and PLEASE choose from a respected manufacturer.

Scopes online.

Getting the correct scope for your air rifle is another key component that many get wrong; as most gun dealers have little experience with an air rifle, that in turn often leads to incorrect matching with your air rifle. Talk to someone who ONLY deals in new air rifles and the scopes that work with them, namely Hawke and Mark IV (aka Mark 4) Scopes, in other words, you can talk to us at Gunroom.

Test before you buy.

If you are looking at buying online, then being able to test a new air rifle prior to parting with your money will seem an impossible ‘ask’. Well, not so. If you live close to Brisbane, you can come to my shop and actually test fire the gun of your choice prior to paying for it. If you can only get here on a weekend, no bigee, just talk to me and when can schedule you to test the air rifle of your choice.

“But I live inter-state” I can just hear some of you saying. Well, in that case, I will shoot your air gun for you and provide you with a Pellet Selection Test with Target results, chronograph results and extended warranty if you want it. This testing is now an extra cost due to time restraints here. Try getting all that from your local gun dealer. I can do it because ALL I deal with is air rifles, though I can buy in any type of rifle or handgun with an ‘order-in’ procedure.

My aim is to promote the air rifle sport, be it in hunting, competition or just plinking for fun, this is a great sport and basically untapped here in Australia.

Kral Superduty PCP Air Rifle

Kral Superduty PCP Air Rifle with maximum air capacity

We import the following air rifles:

Air Arms

Benjamin

Kral

SamYang

and we are local agents for Weihrauch.

Second-hand airguns.

Like most gun dealers, we get trade-ins by way of old, cheap and nasty junk airguns that are then trashed. However, sometimes we actually get in a good air gun, and if you are lucky enough to buy one after it has been tested, you should save yourself some money. Of the brands that I feel offer good value for money, I would include but not limit them to these great brands in alphabetical order:

  • Air Arms
  • AirForce
  • Diana (careful here, though they do have some great guns)
  • Feinwerkbau
  • FX
  • Steyr
  • Weihrauch

I won’t list the crap guns here for want of legal action, plus the list is huge.

There are some other good air rifles out there and I haven’t included them due to poor parts supply, limited tuning accessories and a closed dealer network (i.e., they won’t supply me parts or drawings etc., so I don’t work on them).

Tip: Don’t make the mistake of buying some piece of crap with the desire to get it fixed up, because that won’t happen 9 times out of 10. Crap is crap even when you paint it pink. We will no longer work on old guns as the parts are scarce, expensive, and ultimately cost more than the gun is worth with labour involved: and then when they are not accurate after fitting new springs and seals, the customer sometimes squeals.

There is a DIFFERENCE between getting your gun REBUILT and getting it TUNED, and I don’t mean the spelling.

Gunroom Air Rifle Store Front, Sumner, Brisbane

Gunroom Store Front, Sumner, Brisbane

Air Rifle Pellet Selection.

With every Air Rifle I sell, I can do a Pellet Selection Test on it. This is NOT a tune-up, it is a test procedure that will let me know what pellets perform the best in the air rifle being tested. I pass this information onto the customer who can then purchase pellets with the knowledge that they will perform well in his/her air rifle. Get this wrong and your negative experience will likely be incorrectly directed to the gun and/or the dealer that sold it to you.

Weihrauch HW100 air rifle on an ACZ Stock

HW100 on ACZ Match Stock

HW100 ACZ Match Rifle (basic)

Note: Every air rifle is UNIQUE, so do not expect to use the same pellets as your mate who has the same model gun.

Testing these air rifles prior to delivery is a time-consuming process, even with the SIUS Target System that I use. In the past, this has caused many issues with delays and as I have identified the bottlenecks, I think my new software will speed up this process.

Testing a Budget Air Rifle.

Air Rifles costing $500 or less will have the following test if you want it at a cost of $50:

  1. We will test fire the rifle using numerous pellet types, weights and makes until we find a pellet whose accuracy in that model rifle is deemed to be acceptable.
  2. If you do not want to pay the $50, then we will test fire it to assess if the speed in OK.
  3. WE DO NOT SEND OUT IMAGES OF TARGETS ANYMORE. IF HAS PROVEN TO BE TOO TIME CONSUMING AND OF LITTLE BENEFIT.

Below is the budget-priced Weihrauch HW30s, one of the best performing air rifles under $500 that is very tune-able using a Vortek Kit.

Weihrauch HW30s airgun

Weihrauch HW30s spring airgun with ambidextrous stock

Testing Performance Air Rifles

Air Rifles costing $501 upwards; this applies to springers and PCPs. The following test is optional at a cost of $90:

  1. The rifle is zeroed-in using around 50 shots to set the spring (higher power levels than sub $500 guns), adjust the scope, check for leaks (in a PCP) and develop a feel for the gun.
  2. Then 6 pellet types, made up of JSB and H&N Pellets, are selected and fired in sets of 6 shots, giving me 6 Sets of information as below:
    1. Grouping
    2. Highest Speed in Fps
    3. Lowest Speed in Fps
    4. Average Speed in Fps
    5. Extreme Spread
    6. Standard Deviation
    7. Energy in Ft-Lbs
    8. Energy in Joules
  3. This information is for our own use in determining the correct pellet and tuning status of the air rifle. This image below is what we are chasing for grouping, we are not interested in zeroing the scope to get the bull. Our only interest is the grouping that can be moved around by scope adjustment.
  4. We do all the testing using OUR OWN SCOPES, I do NOT use a customers scope.

Should the air-gun on test fall below what I would accept, then I will fix it, simple. As the majority of air rifles in this price range are PCPs, the expected performance is higher than spring air rifles and budget priced airguns. Bottom line: you will get a good performing air rifle if you buy it from Gunroom. If you buy it elsewhere and you have issues with it, please do NOT bring it here, I only work on guns I have sold or traded.

This new test procedure is current as of January 1, 2019, and supersedes earlier testing regimes as it employs new software and hardwired PCs to reduce double handling. I am doing my best here to provide you, the customer, with a timely and trouble-free buying experience and second to none after sales service, together with a great air rifle.

At the time of editing this, 19/6/2020, we are having trouble keeping abreast with the workload. So please take this into consideration when calling either Heather or myself as doing so during working hours, only escalates delays. Best time to call in after 8:30 EST.

You will now get a 3 Year Warranty on ALL new PCP air rifle purchases that have been tested. Purchasers who buy a PCP Air Rifle from Gunroom will also get a 3 Year Service Warranty with their new air rifle purchase, does your local gun dealer offer you this?

Warranty will not extend to guns that have been “customer modified” as all too often, these mods are the cause of the problems.
